PHOTOGRAPHIAS
In my eyes, the picture depicts a snake that ate an elephant. Each picture has equal potential; they have equal chance to be a better story. Although the criteria stands as a main factor in story telling, the most important feature is the story teller himself. How he chooses to tell the story can add a lot of life to the overall story. Most would be intrigued by a snake eating an elephant, but what if that's all the story entails? A story containing a hat may include a long, life-threatening adventure with plenty of imagination and unrealistic details that added to the overall story. Despite both having the potential of greatness, the hat seems to be the "lifeless factuality" as a snake cannot realistically eat an entire elephant. We see hats everywhere in our life, and to us, as long as we see it, it is true.

Storyteller is the main chief to add favor to the tasteless story,I agreed with you on that. But normal people would not look at a hat and have an adventure pops up in their mind. Unless, they had special experiences or memories with characters that carry a hat as their essential, then they would have a deeper thought about the hat, but that isn't always. People tend to think of things that look a bit more unusual, where they can make up stories for themselves. We don't like to have a specific writing prompt, freestyle writing usually allows our brain to give outmore ideas than something that must be true to tell. Creativity brings story into a whole different level, yet it must starts with an interesting topic Just explaining the process how the snake expanded its mouth into a size that an elephant can managed to crawl inside or what was the conflict happening between the two is already a long story to tell. If you refer the hat to someone's previous story, you can just give a summary, and if the audience interested, they can look up more about it. But that's about it, your job is over. Storytelling takes more thinking than just summarizing a story.
ReplyDeleteWe are all different. While some prefers the hat, non-fiction but believable, others might prefer the snake's special meal, a fictional story that's definitely not true but entertaining. Each of us see the world differently, thus we will have different point of view on the object itself, and what our experience with it, right?
I agree with both pictures have potential to be great stories, and it really does depend on how the author chooses to write the story. But it's true that not everybody will have a creative mind when it comes to looking at a hat. So for writing purposes the elephant would be a better idea.

I most definitely agree with you when you said that, "the most important feature is the storyteller himself. To let others know its all up to the writer to make that decision. I most definitely agree with you when you said that the hat is the lifeless faculty because I don't think that we all have heard of a snake swallowing an elephant whole.
ReplyDeleteI like how you said that both pictures have the potential to be a good story. The story of a snake eating an elephant may or may not be more interesting than the story of a hat. The way stories are told can change the preference to which story the reader would read. In the end, it all depends on how the story is told and what is added in the story to keep the reader at the edge of his chair.
